The Start Sailing 2 program is an accredited Australian Sailing course conducted by qualified instructors from our Discover Sailing Centre. The course introduces adults and teenagers to sailing.
The course will run for nine sessions, starting from the 1st of February. A session wont be run on March Long weekend. Sessions commence at 9:00am and conclude at 12:00pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30am to allow time for changing into wet weather gear and boat rigging. The program is conducted using the Chelsea Yacht Club Pacers, RS Quests and RS Aero fleet.
The Start Sailing 2 course costs $375 for members and $561 for non-members.. It provides over twenty-two hours of qualified instruction, a Certificate on completion and a pathway to the capable enjoyment of sailing, whether that is sailing in club events, or just doing your own thing.
Essential Equipment
- Bathers – shorts & rashie ideal (avoid cotton)
- Towel
- Beach shoes /old runners
- Hat

- Waterproof jacket
- Wetsuit / wetsuit booties
- Sailing gloves (fingerless)

Course Overview
This course equips participants with boat rigging knowledge and sailing skills to sail a dinghy on their own.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident, and the skills and knowledge gained in Start Sailing 1.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who have completed Start Sailing 1 and are wanting to learn and continue to develop their fundamental sailing skills.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
