The Better Sailing course is an accredited Australian Sailing course conducted by qualified instructors from our Discover Sailing Centre. This course is for those who have completed Start Sailing 1 & 2, focusing on sailing in stronger winds and introducing extra equipment like spinnaker and trapeze to leverage the full boat potential on the water.

Sessions commence at 9:00am and conclude at 15:30pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30am to allow time for changing into wet weather gear and boat rigging. The program is conducted using the Chelsea Yacht Club RS Quests and RS Aero fleet.

The Better course costs $375 for members. It provides over twenty-four hours of qualified instruction, a Certificate on completion and a pathway to the capable enjoyment of sailing, whether that is sailing in club events, or just doing your own thing.

 

Essential Equipment

  • Bathers – shorts & rashie ideal (avoid cotton)
  • Towel
  • Beach shoes /old runners
  • Hat

Nice to have

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Wetsuit / wetsuit booties
  • Sailing gloves (fingerless)

Water confident, and you should have the skills, knowledge and experience gained from the Start Sailing 2 course.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to continue developing their sailing skills in dinghies. 

Course Outcome

You will gain your Better Sailing completion certificate.
