The Start Sailing 1 program is an accredited Australian Sailing course conducted by qualified instructors from our Discover Sailing Centre. The course introduces teenagers to sailing.

Sessions commence at 9:00am and conclude at 15:00pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30am to allow time for changing into wet gear and boat rigging. The program is conducted using the Chelsea Yacht Club Pacers, RS Quests and RS Aero fleet.

The Start Sailing 1 course costs $240 for members and $280 for non-members.. It provides twelve hours of qualified instruction and a pathway to the capable enjoyment of sailing.

• Bathers – shorts & rashie ideal (avoid cotton)
• Towel
• Beach shoes /old runners
• Hat

• Waterproof jacket
• Wetsuit / wetsuit booties
• Sailing gloves (fingerless)

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
